About Us

The Autism Horizon Foundation (AHF) is committed to support the academic, social and physical development of individuals with the diagnosis of autism and their families.

The Foundation was established in 2009 by two families, who have children on the autism spectrum, that saw the need for inclusion based programs in the local Charlotte community.

The AHF uses 100% of its charitable donations to fund programs that are dedicated to helping those overcome the challenges of autism. Additionally, we strive to raise visibility and awareness of the daily struggles experienced by those on the autism spectrum.

We fundraise primarily through hosting three annual events:

Because our foundation is operated by volunteers, namely family and friends, we have virtually no overhead costs. This enables us to contribute essentially all fundraising money directly to our cause.

Some of the programs we support include but are not limited to:

Charlotte United ESE Program - This autism program at Charlotte United offers children (K-12) on the spectrum a full inclusion, educational program using the evidence based principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). The AHF has supported this wonderful program since its inception, through partial student scholarships, technology including iPads and Smart Boards, as well as training for teachers and staff.

Camp Boomerang at YMCA - The Siskey YMCA offers children on the spectrum the opportunity to experience summer camp by providing additional support through one-on-one staffing and specialized activities. It is an inclusion based camp that engages campers in age appropriate activities such as sports, fishing, swimming and arts and crafts. The AHF supports this camp by providing scholarships so that children on the spectrum can experience all that camp has to offer.
